I've got a ZS166FM fit up in the chassis of a 2023 xr150l. I've got everything working, only problem I'm running into is where to send the trigger wire, cause the Honda is a DC cdi, while the zongshen wants an AC cdi. Any tips? 😅

I have a camanche that I put a 4.0 (96) into. There is an issue with the turn signals. The (I think) orange wire needs power from somewhere to power the turn signals. Any help?

If the tires were offset by -24mm, would it rub?

I put on a steering box plate and a steering box brace from ironman4x4fab on. That really made a big difference. I did recently lower mine from a 6.5" lift down to a 4.5" lift. Same long arms etc, just shorter coils in the front and shorter shackles in the back. That made a difference as I was able to maintain a good pinion angle while increasing my castor. With the 6.5" lift, the castor was pretty bad. I still have a bit of bump steer as my track bar angle doesn't match my drag link but I will be fixing that soon with a trac bar bracket. The only issue that I have left is too much camber. But I may just gusset the C's and leave it. The Jeep carves corners surprisingly well.

The lack of panel wattage and the minimal battery storage is clearly highly limiting, but having something is better than having nothing and you definitely have something here. You did really well given how little money you spent on the system. I'll ditto DrFiero's comment nearby. For building a system on the cheap (we'll assume you can't afford LiFePO4)... so then SLA is what you should go with. You don't want wet-cell lead-acid inside your trailer, that's a bit dangerous actually. It would also be a good idea to have a main battery fuse. Once you can swing it, adding a bit more solar and a bit more battery storage will solve the time / duration limitations you are hitting up against. You have only a single 20W panel on the roof there and I'm impressed that you are getting so much out of it but... oh man that's really a tiny little solar panel. A quick little expansion would be to get a 50W, 70W, or 75W solar panel instead of that 20W. Or even get the second panel and parallel it with the 20W. -Matt

I just finished the rear lift. OME with JKS Shackles and Ironman 4x4 Fab Relocation brackets front and rear. Getting ready to do the front. ACOS Adjustable Spacer, OME Springs and Shocks with JKS Adjustable Upper and Lower Control Arms and Adjustable Track Bar with JKS Quicker Sway Bar Disconnects! I'm only going around 3" or whatever gives me the rake and stance I'm looking for. Not sure where to start the adjustments on the Control Arms? Not really worried about the track bar adjustment...

I swapped out the cross member from a standard transmission and it lowered my transmission and transfer case around 3/4"-1". Mines a 99 XJ. Not sure whether yours was a standard or auto?

Nato 24V system will NOT charge battery if a Gen 1 or Gen 2 bulb in the dash burns out bc whole system including bulbs is wired in series!. Swap the bulbs in the dash when you get one or at least be aware why your battery isnt staying charged bc your alternators WILL NOT charge if one of the 2 bulbs are burnt! Steel Soldiers is your freind. Money is your freind aloong w patience. Be prepared to get $uper $pendy. These things are 40 years old. Have a network of people or mechanic(s) that arent scared of the crust and 6.2 IDI world. Got my zero rust CA Desert based 29 palms Marine 1008 5 years ago - she was wasting away (high altitude no humidity) on a sheep farm in NM. Got it back to Socal where it is smog exempt. Motor is a reman unknown hours but is almost leak free. The rancher dude who owned it did 12V conversion w civi cluster, manual glows already all lined out. I swapped to AGM Optima battery, spin on filter, '92+ Inline lift pump in frame and now starting is NOT a problem. Shes got a Banks Sidewinder from a donor truck I yanked out as of last month, Inj Pump is timed to proper advance now and is waaaay smoother and quieter at Idle. I just Resealed the front end of motor w Fresh Harmonic, seals, PS belt, New hydroboost lines(old ones leaking at 40 years) last year I did 700R4 w custom higher stall, advance adapters to the 208 TC and my trans shop (Art Carr down the street) did a CUSTOM kickdown bracket kit from Lokar instead of using the very hard to find factory brackets. its on ORD 4" lift w 1.5" forward 1" lift spring shims(~5" lift). PSC 2wd Box BRacked frame welded in, X-over steer, No sway bars on 38" Patagonias. She rolls down freeway 70-75 all day now. Hillbilly Wizard had some extra gun rack locks I put in that the last owner removed. These things are rewarding if you got the time/space/money/resources. Restored gauge cluster w $50 clear cover, $20 LED bulbs, Nice steering wheel $180, $70 Carrhart dash cover over the cracked pad, looks really decent inside. Its now a daily for my son in H.S. now. Its got onboard air w Vair/ARB parts for barge horns and tire inflation. LMC has taiwan vent windows $180 each easy to swap compared to trying to rebuild crusty o.g.'s. Im 5 years in - next up is seat/visors from USA1 and next year shes gettin ADS Coil over setup and CARC Respray/straightening. Save em!

I bought my 89 xj brand new in Los Angeles for 22k $, presently its my home on wheels, its got almost 400k miles, all stock, overhauled my tranny few yrs back, living in my rig full time.

Having done things like this for some time.... ditch the inverter. Replace it with a 12V SLA battery (as many as you want - just parallel them). Then run 12V lighting. Now you can use your lights 24/7! Not just when the sun is up.

Been wheeling my 4.5 RC kit since 2015, i had to replace the tires, shocks, and steering stabalizer immediately (death wobble) bilstein shocks fixed the ride. ive also added a 6' drop pitman and some 6" leaf spring shackles; ive also replaced the rear spring bushings with some poly eurethane ones when they started chattering - the sway bar bushings are also overdue for a replacement. I think i'm on my 3rd tie rod they break at the nut post if you wheel them too hard (good part to keep on hand for $130 or so) i've also broken a control arm mount (not sure how it happened). I do pretty light wheeling these days mostly grocerry runs alot of this stuff is just regular wear and tear but it does add up.

I used one of the RMC cold start jet kits for my wifes Klx 140 and it took care of the known carb problems from the factory. Didnt ever have to mess with the D screw
